There were several trees decorated for Christmas. It seems this is a long tradition and I suspect is where the trail got it’s name as it doesn’t appear to have a lot of trees along the path for Christmas or otherwise.

We had some excellent views along the way including this dramatic overlook into Arizona.

At the end of the trail (or beginning depending on which end you start from, of course) is a fair amount of petroglyphs. (And a fair amount of a destruction of them too from how it appeared to have been added to more recently.)

At any rate, if you’re going to the strip, be ready for detours and delays as a result.

I’ve always loved pinball – but grew up in a world of arcades that maybe had one or two pinball machines if I was lucky.  The best I’d managed was down on Balboa Island, in Southern California, as a teenager in the Fun Zone.

The Pinball Hall of Fame is something special. Oh sure, they may have a few other games (less than 10 I’d guess), but the rest are pure pinball madness. There are rows of them lining both sides of the aisle, and all of them blinking and buzzing and ringing.

Old games that are entirely mechanical and brand new games with all the latest bells and whistles – all are hungry for your quarters. Save them up as you’re going to need a bag full, or use the change machine and cup, old Vegas style, to walk around with.

We made it to the river! It was a rocky road – a bit washed out in places. I was surprised by how remote it seemed until we got to the river – and then boat after boat zoomed by. Looked like a lot of fun.
